Over the next couple of months, starting on October 10th, I’ll be releasing two singles before the end of the year in anticipation of a brand new collection of songs.
When I decided to release these two tracks, the previously-released ‘One For My Baby’ and Nina Simone classic ‘My Baby Just Cares For Me’, I realised that I wasn’t doing enough to propel my career to the point in which I could one day look back and say, “I did all that!”
Starting in 2014, I have been talking about recording a new album. We’re now in the latter parts of 2017 and no album has ever materialised.
Who’s to blame? I could say my personal troubles have stripped me of all motivation. I could say business hasn’t been great so I’ve had to prioritise funds. Or, I could say that I haven’t wanted it enough – if I’m honest.
But, there is an element of truth to that slightly deprecating paragraph above. I have been stripped of motivation, of financial freedom, of the ability to just record thanks to the pressures of everyday life.
Being a father and running multiple businesses isn’t easy, and I don’t always get it right, but other people manage to do it, people who are far busier than I, and it struck me that all of the above and the excuses I make are exactly that – excuses!
It’s time for a change.
With the release of ‘One For My Baby’ on October 10th, 2017, and the subsequent release of ‘My Baby Just Cares For Me’ on November 14th, 2017, I’m closing the door on what has been and opening the door to what is about to come.
Enjoy the songs on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music – everywhere – and I’ll see you in 2018 with the ‘doing’ and the ‘talking’ – done.
